Laura Kitt ADCRG

Laura hails from County Galway where she danced competitively for many years with the Hession School of Irish Dance, Galway. She successfully competed at Oireachtas Rince Chonnacht, Oireachtas Rince na hEireann and Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne as both a solo and a team dancer. After graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University, where she obtained a degree in Dance and Drama, Laura returned to Ireland and joined the Inis Eagla School of Irish Dancing in Dublin. Laura subsequently danced as a Professional Irish Dancer for seven years and toured Europe, America, Asia and Australia with Rhythm of the Dance, Gaelforce Dance, Magic of the Dance, Dance of Desire and Celtic Legends.

After receiving her TCRG (Teaching Qualification) in 2006, Laura moved to Gorey County Wexford and established the ‘Laura Kitt School of Irish Dance’. The school has gone from strength-to-strength since. There is now over eighty pupils in the school ranging in age from 3 – 18 years with many dancers competing in regional and national feiseanna. Although attending competitions is highly recommended to students to improve technique and standard of dance it is not obligatory. The school has classes to cater for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.

In 2012 Laura received her ADCRG qualification (Adjudicators Qualification). Laura is also the Dance Teacher with Innovations Theatre School both in Gorey and Arklow (www.innovations.ie) and teaches Modern Dance extensively in the North Wexford area. She has choreographed numerous shows and musicals to date including most recently ‘Joseph And The Amazing Technical Dreamcoat’ and  ‘Cats the Musical’ at Gorey Little Theatre.

‘Laura Kitt School of Irish Dance’ is registered with An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha (www.clrg.ie ) The aim of the school is to provide an enjoyable and professional learning environment for all students where they can learn the art of Irish Dance to a high standard and make lots of new friends!
